That Drowners should inspire stage diving antics seems somewhat incongruous when you listen to the quartet’s Smith-sian take on Britpop. On record it’s a delicious blend of jittery guitars and melodic whimsy, live, however, Drowners sound just the right side of ragged, posessing an edge-of-it-all angst that’s appealing in a whole new way.
